Alberobello and Ostuni, Puglia

Thanks to all for the recent comments. I’ve been quite busy with our very nice group of painters and haven’t responded but appreciate all of your thoughts.

Yesterday, we painted in a trulli neighbourhood of Alberobello. The winding lanes, cone-shaped houses and quirky chimneys were intriguing subjects.

We held our first critique under a tent on the hotel grounds. The overhead protection was a good thing as an unexpected monsoon-like downpour blasted us as we were about to begin. I was very impressed with the sketches and paintings on display.

Today, we visited Ostuni, the white city. We learned a lot on our two-hour tour and followed that with a delicious lunch at the attractive Trattoria del Frantoio.

It was time to paint after lunch. I gave a refresher lesson on some drawing ideas to some of the group while the rest headed off in search of good spots. They weren’t difficult to find. Ciao for now.
