Cubist Watercolour Workshop

I recently led a workshop for the Willowdale Group of Artists. It took place over three Thursday evenings in November. The theme was ‘Create a Cubist Watercolour’.

The first night was devoted to a compositional and tonal study. This is my demonstration of a study in sepia. It is approximately 11 x 15″.

The workshop is a creative exercise in picture-making. In addition to gradated washes in watercolour, elements such as rubber cement, wax, collage and black paint were used. A non-traditional painting is created following a traditional process. The results were very exciting. If I receive any images from the participants I’ll post them.

This is my sustained demonstration a ‘Cubist’ watercolour’, approximately 15 x 22″.
