San Miguel de Allende, Mexico

I first led a plein air painting holiday in San Miguel de Allende, Mexico in 2004. It was different in many ways than other places I’d visited in Mexico. Initially, I was surprised at the large population of expatriate Canadians and Americans. It’s more expensive than many other towns although one can enjoy a wonderful meal for a fraction of the price of a Toronto restaurant. However, it’s charms won me over and I’ve been back several times.

The visual beauty of the town and the warm hospitality made that first workshop a success. Next March, I’ll be back for the sixth time with another group of eager participants (see Painting Holidays 2010). Early enrollment has gone very well and includes many ‘repeat customers’.
